Pool Area Lighting Enhancement
A practical lighting solution for a wonderful local pool interior, focusing on both functionality and aesthetics.
The project required two different levels of illumination: standard levels for regular use and increased levels for competitions to ensure visibility at the ends of each poolside. Positioning the fixtures to achieve the correct levels was crucial. We supported this with adjustments and additional lighting at each end, including four extra fixtures installed with separate controls to create an easy transition between leisure and competitive lighting. Critical internal considerations included the sloping ceiling, angles, pool reflections, and potential glare. Pre-project 3D files were supplied to help visualise the interior space accurately with the specified fixtures.
Another crucial aspect was meeting the correct energy efficiency levels to enable the leisure centre to receive funding from an efficiency upgrade initiative.
For the complete solution, we supplied modular LED floodlights with both asymmetric and symmetric optics, each strategically positioned for optimal illumination and equipped with anti-glare shields.
The fixtures were engineered for durability and safety, with anti-corrosion and heat-resistant properties suitable for chlorine exposure. Constructed from die-cast aluminium with cooling fins and coated with high-purity silver, they can operate at temperatures up to 40°C, making them ideal for this interior where heat builds up in the roof area.
They also feature extra-clear, 4 mm thick tempered glass for thermal shock resistance, along with an impact resistance rating of IK08 and an ingress protection rating of IP66.
For ease of installation, the fixtures were equipped with waterproof connectors and a pre-treated polyester powder coating, ensuring long-lasting performance.
